Food Fix - Banana Porridge

Banana-Porridge

High cholesterol is not uncommon, particularly in our over-indulgent society. Porridge includes many cholesterol-lowering foods (such as oatmeal, banana, walnuts, and almonds) while still being filling and delicious enough to trick your body into thinking you're getting a treat when you're actually doing it good.

Ingredients

• 1 banana, sliced

• 1 cup blueberries

• 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

• 2 cloves

• 1 tsp grated nutmeg

• 2 cups organic rolled oats

• 4 cups low fat milk

• Honey

• Mixed unroasted walnuts and almonds

Method

1. In a small saucepan combine oats and milk and cook on a medium to low heat for 15 minutes or until most of the milk has been absorbed and the porridge is soft

2. Add banana and blueberries and turn off the heat, stir for a minute

3. Place porridge in a bowl and sprinkle with nuts

4. Drizzle with honey
